Mar Serra studied in Barcelona and Madrid with musicians such as Carmen Deleito, Josep Colom, Ramon Coll, Miquel Farré, Ferenc Rados, Andrej Jazinsky, Leonid Sintzev, Pierre Reach and Lluís Claret, obtaining the Higher Degree in 2001 at the Liceu Conservatory of Barcelona.
She won the First Award at the 10th Castellterçol Music Contest, playing with the violinist Albert Rodríguez in the speciality of chamber music in 2003, as well as the award for the best Catalan duo at the 50th Maria Canals International Competition in 2004. She later formed a duet with the cellist Amaia Ruano, with whom he regularly performs in Catalan theaters. Currently, she is playing with the Ethno-fusion group “Mushka”, which have been selected by the state circuit INJUVE 2005, and have won 1st award in the 10th Garcilaso Acoustic Music Competition 2005.
She played as a soloist in the piano and choir version of the Opera “La vida breve de Falla” in 2003 at the Poble Nou Alliance Theater, in the show “Dreaming the Carnival of Animals” at the Teatro de la Villa de Madrid (December 2006) and in the show “La Encina” premiered at the Granada Music and Dance Festival in June 2008.
In 2011, Mar Serra released his first album Opus I with Mar Serra Grup, with which she recorded the TV3 program “Fusió i swing a l’estudi”.
In 2017, she recorded the album “Cançons mecanoscrites” with “Martí Serra i els pintors d’ànimes” group.
In 2019, she publishes his second album “I sempre demà” with Mar Serra Grup, presented at the Auditorium of Barcelona. Currently, she also plays with Guillem Soler.
In 2019, she obtains the Anna Riera Scholarship in jazz composition.
Mar Serra has worked as a teacher in Madrid and Barcelona schools. She currently teaches at the Municipal School of Music and Dance Miquel Pongiluppi in El Papiol, of which she served as principal from 2012 to 2016.
